Pegasus Gladiators 1/72.

Hello all,

A different one for a change, I bought this set a while back and being a fan of the (if not quite accurate) Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" I had to give them a try. Again beer featured quite heavily in this project, but when doesn't it!
The plastic is quite HaT like, soft if you like. I have yet to try gluing them but I will give it a try.
I am not that hot on ancient figures armour and clothes so please bear with me.
The base is a simple glue and sand with a coat of Vallejo Iraqi sand topped off with MiG weathering pigment.

An interesting project with a few more to come!

Pegasus WWII Russian BT-7 1/72

Hello all,

Looks like regular service is back on the blogging front. This is another from the built up stash. The kit comes as a pair and is only about 12 or so bits which means a cracking job for war gamers and reasonable enough for a diorama. The barrel has been replaced with a metal one.
This one got a spray with Humbrol 86 olive.

The whole tank got a wash with pro modeller dirt.

The rear got the exhaust pipes drilled out and "smoked" look.

The kit does not come with a decals so some MiG ones came out of the spares box.

The tracks got a quick blast with the airbrush for a bit of weathering.

A quick dusting with Tamiya weathering powder finished it off.
This is a pair so expect its mate to be along soon!

Caesar "Undead" 1/72, This hobby will be the death of me!

Hello all,

A quick post tonight, as I am watching a documentary about the Vulcan raid on port Stanley.
This is for a mate at work, Paul. I am forever reminding him that he looks like death and the grim reaper is waiting for him around every corner due to his advancing years.
The figure is from Caesars fantasy range "The undead" set. A great set with some interesting poses, the skeletons are screaming out for "Jason and the Argonauts".

Airfix M113 US APC Vietnam 1/76.

Hello all,

WHAT! Four posts in one week, is the world coming to an end. No I have raided the stash of work that has built up and is just waiting to  bust on to the blogging world. Beer and blogging I believe is a perfect mix, after a mental week at work where the sound track should have been from "Benny hill"! Gary our resident bald comrade kept looking over his shoulder in case we slapped him on the head!
I have just spent about four hours watching "The Hero's" featuring Jason Donovan in the canoe raid on Singapore, a pain to watch that way but worth it. Contemplating watching the second one.
Any way back to the plastic kit in question, the kit was another two hour wonder apart from the decals which is another story.
This Ex JB model is another quick build which is a war gamers dream and a squadron could be knocked up in short order.

Not a lot more can be add to this build than in the other post because it was done in the same night.

The M60's that come with the kit are bobbing's, really crap and I don't why the bothered. These came from CMSC from the spares box. I should have cut the fore grips off but forgot.

The Ariel is the new found paint brush bristles which is the best choice I found so far.

The weathering was a bit over board to say the least on this job.

Again the beer monster began to give me advice and I forgot the decals. This was the old JB model issue and I thought the decals would be old and useless and I was right. I cocked them up royally and then  tried to weather my out of the problem.

I am still chuffed with the build and even a few beers didn't put to many obstacles in the way.

Zvezda WWII German FLAK 36 1/72.

Hello all,

I am really pushing the boat out this week! To be fair I have had this one done a few weeks now and was posted on the 1/72 depot site, just not got round to posting it here (lazy sod!).
I bought this because I have always want an 88'and have the Hasegawa's version knocking around the stash in the loft but didn't have the time to dig it out (Again lazy git!). I also needed to bump up my artillery  collection, which mainly consists of 105mm light guns.
This is an imposing beast pointing up towards the sky, it must have been even more scary pointing straight at you!

The kit is only about 45 bits including crew and fits together without glue goes together really well, the fit is cracking.

I put the gun mantel on just show what it looks like. I prefer this model for an air defence role. The Italeri kit looks better for the anti tank role because the crew is much better.

A quick prime with tamiya primer and then a quick blast with Vallejo German grey followed by a going over with a black wash.

I didn't go a bundle on the decals, it was more than likely me that cocked it up, but they do look like they are bragging a little with the score counting.

My first flak 36!
Well I managed to build it, paint and post it all I need to do is base it and do the crew!

Airfix M113 Fire support version Australian 1/76.

Hello all,

What is this I hear you ask, two post in three days? What ever next!!!!! But yes I have had this on the side for a week now waiting to post it, in fact I have a few bits and bobs already and waiting to shove in peoples faces and say "Look at this pony!"
This is a great little kit from JB models and badge under the Airfix flag. I was chuffed to monkeys with Airfix taking these moulds over.
Simple kits with about twenty five parts or so that fit well. This one is a mix of the M113 body and Saladin turret. It took about an hour or so between beers to build and about five minutes to spray with a can of Humbrol 86 olive green. I am trying to use the spray cans on jobs that on have one colour to save the hassle of cleaning the airbrush.
The tracks and wheels are all one piece so it is ideal for war gamers and lazy gits like me.

The barrel got drilled out with an unsteady hand but it seems to have worked. i have seen people drill out the smoke dis chargers but that is way beyond me even without a beer!

I forgot to paint the head lights and the decals got forgotten about in the beery haze that followed. I started weathering and then thought decals, shit!

I am not sure what makes it Australian without the decals but if I say it enough people will believe it.

The Ariel's are made from paint brush bristles which I read some where and look a hell of a lot better than the florist wire I have been using. It bends as well which is a bonus for the likes of me.

A bit of stowage wouldn't go a miss and black dog do a range of Vietnam kit, but I am not sure about the Aussie kit though.
The rest of the weathering is the faithful MiG weathering powder plastered all over the place.
All in all not bad for an hour of building and another hour of weathering and painting I think.

TQD Castings WWII British commando 1/72.

Hello all,

I have been neglecting the blogging world lately and for that I am very, very sorry! And I really mean it as well. My life has been at "warp 10" for a couple of months now and my time has been split between work home, work for  1/72 depot and Modding on Benno's. I feel guilty as hell for not commenting on every ones work but it does not mean I am not looking!
I decided one night (with the aid of beer I might add) to challenge Thomas (another Mod on Benno's) to a duel. This might sound like a normal thing to do but for one thing, he is a bloody hell of a painter and I mean GOOD!!! We had both got our hands on the new TQD Casting commando and thought why not. A single figure on a 4x4 base. This is what I came up with.....
The base was made using a GW base and a piece of woodland scenic plaster rock cut using a small mita block and saw.

The vegetation is from woodland scenic foliage set and the ground is PVA glue and sand.

A cracking pose, I have never seen a commando with a Vicker's K gun in this scale before.

I wanted to steer away from the normal Dennison smock so after a bit of research I found that in Northern Italy they used plain sand coloured smocks, which was handy for me!

The rest of the poses are just as good and well worth the money, Mark Dixon at CP Models will be making a few more quid out of me.

Well  I now have got myself into some more duels and I don't think I will have quite the same luck.
This is what I was up against a bloody great entry from Thomas,Commando duel,Cheers for the duel mate!
