A few months back the wife wanted my son to have a larger room so I was kicked out of the guest room into a smaller room. The bribe was it would be re decorated (by us) very cheaply for about £100 all in.
Well after a few more months later I still hadn't settled in and it didn't feel right, I worked out that I couldn't find my paints easily in the current location so something was needed to be done.
I had seen a few ideas on the net but they were all out of reach of my limited budget. Then I had a flash of inspiration or a few beers one or the other. I think I saw something on line that I thought I could knock that up for a fraction of the price. It must have been beer because I am crap at DIY and other tools (ask the good lady).Any way here is the outcome,

I have finally got off my arse and did the tarp over the stowage of this Pacific Sherman. I thought I might as well show you how I did it. I used white tissue paper, PVA glue, fly brown wash and Tamiya weathering powder.
HI all,

It's been a very a very long time since I have posted anything let alone build anything!my life has been very mad over the last year or two and not in a good way, but never mind that I have now found my hairy sticks again.

I tried to build this M4 in the style of a Pacific variant with scratch built wooden side skirts and stowage on the engine deck. Now the question is should I cover the stowage with a tissue paper tarp? I don't think it looks right just "sat" there.

The Sherman was painted using a rattle can and MiG pigments dusted over with Tamiya weathering powders, I do like the subtle smoke on the gun barrel.please be gentle as I'm not quite back in the groove of model making and still trying to get my mojo back!

Here is a build of an Italeri Hawk 100 that I picked up for about £4 in the local hobby shop that I finally got around to building.

I find building the cockpit and painting the inside of the cockpit the most off putting bit of a plane build, once I have got this bit out of the way its no problems, just need that kick up the arse.

This is the Revell offering of the Warrior MCV without the add on armour. If you are lucky enough to get one get it, if not you will have to wait till the Trumpeter kit turns up. I have had this kit at a near completion for I reckon two years nearly and finally got around to weathering and basing it.

Just a quickie tonight. This was knocked up for a competition but decided to go with something else instead. I think that He would look good in front of a spitfire or hurricane on a nice green airfield.
I picked up this set at Poole vikings model show and wished I had bought a couple of other set as well.

Just a quick post tonight of a figure that I was going to use in a duel with Paul (off of Paul's bods) but decided after seeing all the mould lines to go with the other one, a better decision I think.

A bit gruesome I know, but what the hell why not I say. II have seen this figure in a very good diorama using the Italeri British cavalry bloke on his knees just scalped.

This was meant to be a nice simple build, but end up a sodding nightmare in the end!!!! I thought it would be nice to try and give it a bit of extra effort on this build, try and make it a looker. You get two different decal options with this kit US Navy or Greek air force. I was tempted to try the Greek option but thought I wanted a US plane, white is always a challenge.

This is the bait picture to get you to have a closer look at this post, not bad you might think, well read on sir!

The build was not an issue, it was a tail sitter so I loaded it up with about six grammes of nuts and stuff and filled every bit of nose space, so much that I had to cut the legs of the new Revell NATO pilots that I had painted to fit in.
I thought I would try my hand at masking. I had already sprayed the plane gloss white which nearly went without a hitch.

I have had problems with the colour orange before so thought I would buy a spray can of it and see how it goes. I have Gnat in the stash so the colour will not be wasted. At this point I think everything is going well!

Here we have skipped the horror of unmasking and finding the orange has leaked on to the white, a rather bodged job of covering can been seen if you look really hard.
Here is another duel from Benno's that I had with the great Paul from a while back. It was three pictures and anything from the 18th century, an era of history I know nothing about apart from watching "Last of the Mohican's" on the telly. But that's one of the points of this hobby for me to learn something new from history.

Just when you think you can settle back into the hobby life goes mad again!!!! Anyway this kit is another from the Trumpeter stable and a very nice kit to build as well. It is very similar to the T-55 kit which I have put a few together so I had no real problems.

Time for something completely different! Well that's a bit of a lie, its still 1/72 and its still a plastic model but it is a helicopter, it is RAF and it is civilian so not that normal. After battling with the colour yellow for a small band on a small Italian fighter I decided to go mental and paint a whole helicopter in it!
I have worked on a similar model from Italeri, the Seahorse but I managed to waste 15 hours of work with one spray of varnish. Canopy's and Matt varnish spray really. REALLY DO NOT MIX!!!!! The whole lot misted up and wrecked it.
This model only took me the weekend to knock up and even though there is a few minor errors I can live with them.

I remember from the last model to drill the holes out before I put the the fuselage together this time, and saved time by spraying the cockpits on the spruces.

This kit fed my appetite for all things Italian. I have a soft spot for WWII Italian kit, don't know where it comes from but I have one. This kit ticked several boxes for me, firstly its Italian, secondly its very simple and finally and most importantly its cheap! It has given me the opportunity to try masking canopy's again and to bugger about with varnish from a spray can.
To say its simple is an understatement, how it rated a skill level three is beyond me.It has now under carriage wells at all, you can see right through it (at a funny angle). It wouldn't take much to sort it out but I have not bothered with it this time.
The canopy was a simple affair as well, but it did pose a challenge to mask them off which is all practise much needed. Canopy's really make a model aircraft for me, it show a skill level that I am far from reaching.

I thought to myself that I don't have any Sherman's in my collection, well built anyway. Seeing some of the great work done on these fast build kits, especially Thanos's work on his panthers, so I thought I would give them a whirl. You even get two models for your money so it can't be bad!

Back with some more modern heavy armour from Trumpeter! And being British its a bit of a favourite. I really like the the fact that this kit has a dozer blade for clearing obstacles and road blocks. I would guess this was aimed at the Kosovo conflict an era not commonly covered by this hobby.
This kit was knocked up a while back and posted on Benno's forum, because I am trying to catch up with a few duels that I have on at the moment. Now the "plague" has left the west house hold I can try and make up some time.

Here is one I finished last week before I started to die. This is part of my attempt to improve my aircraft skills and they need a hell of a lot of work!
This kit had sitting in my new local hobby shop and the price was a steal so it would have be mad not to get it to practise on.
The kit like most Italeri kits go together very well indeed the two main half's fit well and very little filling needed.

I tried my had at masking off the canopy with masking tape, which is a art in itself, it can make the model or wreck it in my opinion.

The filling is another trick I am trying to master. I think the sanding is letting me down but practise, practise, practise!

Here is another model that I built during the Euros and painted the other month. In honour on the great Peter (of Peter's cave), I thought I would go for the Belgium decal option for this build. Work has had me on a course which involves bloody homework, HOMEWORK!!!! Right in the middle of the Euros as well. So the rate of painted work has suffered but the amount of built armour awaiting the spray gun is amounting 9 at the the moment.
Back to the figure. This was for an airborne duel with the great Zoran (Zzed) over on Benno's. After the spanking I got last time a little honour was restored with a close victory, check out the duel over here,Airborne duel, A big thank you to every one who voted in the duel and thanks to Zoran for the duel.

A quick post this afternoon before the Italy Vs Spain game of a Modern British AFV crewman which is destined for a "modern British AFV" of all things!
I really like the Wee friends range of figures but are a little bit shocked at the postage they want to charge for there figures, £3.50 for 4 or 5 metal figures really come on! All the same they are the dog's bollocks for Modern Brits so I am lucky I already have most of them. I do have a modern Brit AFV already built, painted and weathered a bit of a rescue job but a bloody good one. I only have to do the base and hey presto.....!

Planes are not my strong point, but they are something I intend to crack! The canopy's seem to be my Achilles heel. I have tried masking tape, masking fluid and even by hand and I never seem to get it right.
This is a nice little plane to build with no real problems a part from my own making. The wheel struts are the wrong way round and the bloody canopy leaked where I didn't glue the f#$ker together!!!!!!
I wish I had airbrushed this one but I am looking to move house and have to TRY to keep the model room looking half descent.

Something totally different tonight and something I swore I would never do again (no not trying to milk a cat or try to dance in public sober). As a mod on Benno's forum I have been involved in sorting out peoples arguments over how many buttons on a chuff to the wrong coloured underpants, mainly due to Napoleonic uniforms. So it was with a certain amount of trepidation that I started this figure.
I have hundreds of these ESCI nappy figures from my childhood when I bought several battle sets and thought that I might has well give them a try. I have tried once before to paint a Nappie figure and it was crap!
To be fair this only took me an hour and a half to paint this figure which might explain the standard of this job.
I ALSO PAINTED IT STRAIGHT FROM THE ART WORK ON THE BOX!!!!!!!!!DON'T BLAME ME!
