Matador models WWII RAF pilot 1/72.

Hello all,

Just a quickie  tonight. This was knocked up for a competition but decided to go with something else instead. I think that He would look good in front of a spitfire or hurricane on a nice green airfield.
I picked up this set at Poole vikings model show and wished I had bought a couple of other set as well.
This bloke took about half an hour to paint.

The yellow on the Mae west behaved itself  after a second coat.

There was a little bit of flash on this bloke but even though it was a metal figure the knife sorted most of it out.

I had a bash at doing a shoulder patch with a eagle on a blue patch.

Should have based him on grass and posted the picture, I suppose it would mean I have to build that spit I have in the stash.
I like this figure but not as much as the entry so watch this space!

Italeri Indian warrior AWI 1/72. Pt 2.

Hello all,

Just a quick post tonight of a figure that I was going to use in a duel with Paul (off of Paul's bods) but decided after seeing all the mould lines to go with the other one, a better decision I think.

A bit gruesome I know, but what the hell why not I say. II have seen this figure in a very good diorama using the Italeri British cavalry bloke on his knees just scalped.

Quite chuffed with the skin tone on this bloke, its amazing what you can do with a quick wash of burnt umber.

The war paint is not too bad either, not sure if it is historically correct but I am sure some one will tell me.

AAAHHH mould lines!!!!! When will I ever learn!
I am happy with this bloke even with the mould lines. It is a great set that can be converted quite nicely, not that I have but seen on Bennos figures forum.

Revell T-2C/E Buckeye US Navy 1/72.

Hello all,

This was meant to be a nice simple build, but end up a sodding nightmare in the end!!!! I thought it would be nice to try and give it a bit of extra effort on this build, try and make it a looker. You get two different decal options with this kit US Navy or Greek air force. I was tempted to try the Greek option but thought I wanted a US plane, white is always a challenge.

This is the bait picture to get you to have a closer look at this post, not bad you might think, well read on sir!

The build was not an issue, it was a tail sitter so I loaded it up with about six grammes of nuts and stuff and filled every bit of nose space, so much that I had to cut the legs of the new Revell NATO pilots that I had painted to fit in.
I thought I would try my hand at masking. I had already sprayed the plane gloss white which nearly went  without a hitch.

I have had problems with the colour orange before so thought I would buy a spray can of it and see how it goes. I have Gnat in the stash so the colour will not be wasted. At this point I think everything is going well!

Here we have skipped the horror of unmasking and finding the orange has leaked on to the white, a rather bodged job of covering can been seen if you look really hard. I have left the canopy mask on till I have sprayed the final coat of gloss varnish, been caught like that before.

Once the canopy mask is off the horror of leaking gloss paint (that has hardened) all over the canopy, not a f?£king again!!!!!!

On the plus side the decals went on like a dream all thing considered.

From a distance this looks like a good job but I know I am not happy with it, I learnt a few things mind you so not a total waste of time, I think I was just upping for a better result.

The pilots weren't bad and I did manage to make the ejector seat pull cords.

I have bought myself the new Italeri carrier deck diorama base and was planning on putting this on it but because it a crap job I will wait for something better to mount on it, that and the fact I have to build and paint the bloody thing.

The base is a bit of paper printed of the Internet which does just a good enough job for this pain in the arse.
I would like to buy another one of these and hand paint the bloody thing in Greek camo and hope it turns out better than this. I might try paint mask again for the canopy of my next build.

NORMALLY I SAY PLEASE CLICK ON IMAGES FOR A LARGER VIEW BUT NOT THIS TIME! ANY COMMENTS ARE STILL MORE THAN WELCOME THOUGH LOL!

Italeri AWI Indian warrior 1/72.

Hello all,

Here is another  duel from Benno's that I had with the great Paul from a while back. It was three pictures and anything from the 18th century, an era of history I know nothing about apart from watching "Last of the Mohican's" on the telly. But that's one of the points of this hobby for me to learn something new from history.
I wanted to try something that looked 18th century so this bloke wearing the classic long coat  I think just about covers this.

The powder horn is something I have never really got right and the wife would not let me stick that film on again for research something to do with scalping!

The base is made from... you guest it sand PVA glue and woodland scenic cast rocks. The fallen log is a real twig so should bloody well look real!

The back ground picture I think saves this figure, it blends in really well with the base so it was a good choice from the Internet. The printer played up so that was great fun printing with dregs of the ink.

I wanted to try so moss out that I got from Silfor to give that river edge dark damp north American wood look. I would have loved to try some water effects but the base would have to of been much larger.

And here it is without the background. This picture is a look better focus than the rest and you get a better view of the base.
Not a bad effort n the end and I am quite happy with it. I am sure that people that know a lot more about this era than me will find fault with it but it is a learning curve.

Trumpeter Chinese T-59 1/72

Hello all,

Just when you think you can settle back into the hobby life goes mad again!!!! Anyway this kit is another from the Trumpeter stable and a very nice kit to build as well. It is very similar to the T-55 kit  which I have put a few together so I had no real problems.
This is a great kit that goes together very well.

The turret MG is a cracking example even if I managed to snap it off during the build and had to reattach it.

The barrel like most Trumpeter kits is predrilled and realistic.

I used a Tamiya JA green spray can and a bit of MiG weathering dry mud.

The base is a Willis cobbled street that will be reused many, many times to come.

I did a slight umber wash and reckon I should have gone heavier with it. I reckon the Matt varnish spray has lightened it a bit to much.
Another great kit from trumpeter I just hope they do a T-72 or BMP soon a gap in the market I think. I will get another kit because I really want to try the camo scheme on it.
